Do you want to be a life coach?
In late 2011, as I contemplated signing up for a course in compassionate communication, I was led to the Coaching for Transformation certification training through Leadership That Works, a life coaching organization out of eastern Pennsylvania. They led online virtual life coaching cohorts through their training program with students from across the globe.
As I was specifically looking for a certification program, they were just starting a new cohort and I signed up for a four week trial run. Needless to say, I loved it and it was the right program for me.
Though this 11 month certification training would stretch and challenge me in ways that forced me to confront some of the deepest, darkest, most challenging parts of myself, what I learned, and how I healed, was invaluable!
Later on, I’d refer being a life coach to being like a “modern day Shaman.” Although I wasn’t using plant medicine or anything other than coaching skills to support clients, it was as if I was a support to helping them confront their most challenging parts so they could effectively heal, learn and grow into the best versions of themselves.
Now, I’ll be honest, making a full time living as a life coach hasn’t happened for me yet! However, the benefit of being trained as a life coach means that I get to use all of the tools I’ve learned in every professional and personal relationship I have. It’s supported me to be a better listener, to hear what others are saying and take myself out of the equation personally. It’s supported me to speak my truth more clearly and confidently. It’s helped me have better boundaries and teach others to do the same.
I like to say, I think everyone in the whole world should take a life coach training, whether you want to be a life coach or not. The interpersonal (relationship you have with others) and intrapersonal (relationship you have with yourself) skills you will learn are indelible! If everyone took a life coach’s training course, from a reputable source, I think the world will be a more peaceful, loving, fun and safe place for everyone!
Interested in learning more about becoming a life coach or just learning better skills to be a better human being? You can check out Leadership That Works website here (I am not an affiliate of the program, I just love and believe in what they do so much I will rep them!). It may be the best thing you ever do for yourself and those around you (think ripple effect)!
